Beginning in 1948, the Armenian
Review has evolved over the years to become the pre-eminent
journal of Armenian scholarship. No other English-language Armenian
publication has had a greater role in advancing modern Armenian
historiography, especially over the last 20 years, when research
on the Genocide burgeoned and the Armenian Review became
the key academic outlet for publication of this scholarship.
As political claims have relied increasingly on solid historical
research, the role that the Armenian Review has played
in Armenian national life has become ever more important. And
yet, the Armenian Review has been and remains a scholarly
journal. Publication standards are set very high, and articles
published in these pages must not only be original works of
research, but must also pass reviews by peers in relevant disciplinary
fields.
